Optical Fibre Systems:

  • Virtual

    By virtual instruments we mean instruments that do not contain logic and display functions (for cost reduction) and need a PC to become operative. Screen and keyboard of the PC are the man/machine interface. TESEO is specialized in the virtual instruments that connect to the serial part of the PC by means of fiber optic links. Different types of instruments can be tied together in daisy chain on just one port of the PC via a proprietary protocol and a high level software program that displays each instrument as one page on the PC screen.

  • Video

    Video fiber optic links are used to carry video signals from a shielded camera radiated by an electromagnetic field to a monitor attended by the operator in the quiet area of a control room. Many options are available. like supply from battery packs. different color standards, other lenses. For non EMC applications optical transducers for video signals are also available.

  • BUS

    The need for extending a bus via a fiber optic cable is born frequently from the necessity to test for radiated immunity an on-board unit appended to a bus. The ancillary test equipment or development system is located in the control room at a distance from the equipment under test. The connection must be necessarily optical. An extender is formed by a pair of transceivers (OBE = Optical Bus Extender) with the fiber cable in between.

  • Automotive

    Most of the general purpose fiber optic based test equipment above are of general usage in automotive testing. Some are of exclusive use like OSM04 and OSM05 command channels that are devised to turn the key, start the engine and accelerate a car with no driver intervention as required in the anechoic chamber. The IS09141 bus is also exclusive as no applications other than automotive are known. CAN and VAN buses are not restricted to the vehicle installations but the automotive applications are today predominant. The has been designed in compliance with a specification issued by a car maker as indicated by the ranges (they make you think immediately of a vehicle battery supply) and are particularly well suited to monitor automotive electronics. Also OTM01 channels are employed very often in bulk current tests that are common in homologation of automotive components.

  • Audio

    Audio fiber optic links can be point to point or multipoint intercoms.
    Multipoint systems are formed of a mixing unit AMU-2 where up to 8 users can talk at the same time under control by an operator that can enable and disable the connections and individually adjust the speech levels. Typically they are designed for large installations with many shielded rooms and other laboratories.
